The Evolution of Gicharani Comprehensive School, Karai Ward.

From mud-walled classrooms to modern terrazzo-floored academic blocks and cabro-paved walkways.

Improvement of education infrastructure has been the cornerstone Kimani Ichung’wah’s development agenda for Kikuyu Constituency since he was first elected MP in 2013. Through his visionary leadership and prodigious passion for education, the Kikuyu NG-CDF continues to facilitate the transformation of all public schools in the constituency into modernized institutions of learning. One such testament to this fact is the Gicharani Comprehensive School in Gikambura, Karai Ward.

The institution’s infrastructure has been progressively improved, with construction of new classrooms, renovation of the existing ones and establishment of science laboratories. Establishment of an ICT lab is underway to facilitate digital literacy education programs for learners.

Through the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA), the school’s access road, parade grounds and walkways are cabro-paved, providing a tidier and safer environment. This allows students and staff to access classrooms and other facilities without tracking dirt indoors.

These spaces create a conducive environment for holistic learning, improved student outcomes and sustainable academic excellence. Enrollment has also increased as a result of these development initiatives, with the current population standing at 997 students.
