Pres. Ruto Inspects Ongoing Kikuyu Affordable Housing Project
H.E President william Ruto today toured the Kikuyu Affordable Housing Project that is located next to the Muguku Poultry Farm to inspect the ongoing construction works. He was accompanied by Kikuyu Constituency MP Kimani Ichung'wah and other leaders. The president commended the progress of the 1140-unit project that comprises social housing, affordable housing and market housing units and is 60% complete.

The Kikuyu AHP project has significantly boosted the local economy by creating direct and indirect jobs for youth and artisans in the construction industry. The project employs over 1,000 workers at any given time and 25 local vendors supply food on site every day. The Kikuyu Constituency Welders Association is fabricating and supplying all the windows and doors for the entire project.

The project is strategically located next to the meeting point of the Southern Bypass, the A104 Highway, and the Western Bypass (Gitaru Interchange), and Kikuyu Town, offering convenient access to major transport link roads to Western Kenya, Nairobi, and Central Region, as well as physical and social amenities in Kikuyu Town.

It is one of the many such projects being developed across the country under the Boma Yangu Initiative. The government's objective is to improve the living standards of its citizens by facilitating affordable acquisiton of decent homes, especially for low-income earners, informal sector workers (Jua Kali), and the middle class.
